Ashtanga Vinyasa

Synchronised. Disciplined. Structured.

Ashtanga vinyasa is a style of yoga popularised by K.Pattabhi Jois.

The session is a very dynamic and athletic form of yoga which is made up of six “series” (Primary, Intermediate and four Advanced series) each of which has a fixed order of poses.

Students follow a set sequence of postures each time, gradually progressing through each of these six series.

When practiced correctly it demands a high degree of focus and concentration. It generates an internal heat that cleanses and purifies the student.

Rocket Yoga

Playful. Progressive. Invigorating.

The "Rocket" yoga classes here at Ashtanga Cheshire Studios are dynamic and invigorating created by Larry Schultz!

Rocket Yoga is divided into three different sequences based on the series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.

The sessions are designed to increase flexibility, strength and balance in the body, while promoting a sense of calm and focus in the mind.

It is an intense practice that is suitable for both beginners and experienced students.

Vinyasa Flow

Energetic. Dynamic. Fluid.

With clear awareness and direction on alignment, the synchronisation of movement and breath, graceful and strong sequencing will build internal heat purifying the body and strengthening the mind.

An energetic flow created around exploration of "peak postures" and challenging your limitations.

This energising and nourishing practice will leave you feeling accomplished and uplifted with every class.

Mandala

Elemental. Playful. Rhythmic.

“Mandala” is a Sanskrit word that means “complete” or “circle.” A spiritual symbol in many cultures, a mandala is a representation of the universe.

When practicing a mandala flow, you make your way halfway or completely around your yoga mat in a circular manner. Often, it is practiced repeatedly. Transitioning from one pose to another in this manner allows you to experience a form of moving meditation.

Mellow Slow Flow

Conscious. Cleansing. Juicy.

Our slow flow class is "meditation in motion" The slow pace emphasises a calmness within your practice.

The Mellow slow flow sessions condition the body and provide a space to enhance mental discipline and focus.

This session is taken at a slower pace than our Ashtanga vinyasa and Vinyasa flow classes.

Our Mellow slow flow is a great option for the newer student, not because it isn't hard - this style is still as physically dynamic and challenging as any other style, however it gives a little more space to refine and explore depth in poses and their transitions.

Ashtanga Basics

Simply Synchronised. Disciplined. Structured.

Ashtanga vinyasa is a style of yoga popularised by K.Pattabhi Jois.

The session is an introduction to a dynamic and athletic form of yoga which is made up of six “series” (Primary, Intermediate and four Advanced series) each of which has a fixed order of poses.

Students will delve into a set sequence of postures in the Primary series (the first of the six series).

Yoga Basics / Beginners Flow

Simplistic. Smooth. Encouraging.

This is foundational vinyasa, a "find your feet" class for the newer students to this practice.

In this class we work on the fundamentals of breath work and basics in correct alignment while interweaving the primary principles of the yoga practice.

Restorative

Corrective. Therapeutic. Remedial.

Exactly as the style label states this class restores the body to its parasympathetic nervous system function. The state in which helps support the body to rest, heal and restore its balance.

This style of practice gives space for slightly longer held postures and deeper breathing practices. It allows the student to release any mind-body tension and bringing both the body and mind to equilibrium.

Rest is a radical act and the foundation of all practices, the well from which all of your creative and intuitive life flows.

Indulge in the art of rest, soothe your nervous system and find deep, reflective meditation.

This class is much slower paced than the usual vinyasa classes and has more focus on classical Hatha postures with the intent to restore the body to its most optimal state for overall physical and mental wellbeing.

Restorative Yoga provides a space for longer held, supported postures, gentle Pranayama practices and explorative meditations.

Yin

Static . Nourishing. Calm.

This session incorporates principles of TCM and works on stimulation of the Meridian lines of the body.

An extremely slow paced style of practice with long holds while encouraging the major muscles of the body to deactivate and allow the gentle stresses to be absorbed into the joints, deep connective tissue and fascia.

The practice helps you stretch and lengthen tissues while teaching the student to breathe through and accept discomfort in both the physical body and mind.

A therapeutic class ideal for highly active people - athletes, highly stressed workers and the regular yang practitioner.

Classical Mat Pilates

Intentional. Accurate. Specific.

Master the concepts and techniques of the 24 classical mat exercises of Joseph Pilates. A strengthening and lengthening form of exercise that focuses on your core muscles as a primary target along with also training your arms and legs.

Pilates requires focus and dedication, the movements of the pilates form are subtle, powerful and intentional.

In this class you use your body in new ways and awaken muscles you didn't even know you had!

Myofascial Fun and Fiery Flow

Strong. Mobility. Functionality.

A fun, strong yet grounding flow - optimised to increase mobility and functionality. The primary focus of this session is to restore our natural alignment by balancing the tension lines of the muscle (myo) and fascia for the entire body., removing "stiffness" (dense fascia) Each week students will practice a different Myofascial line to ensure balance and benefits across all planes.

Open level class. This is a fun and fiery flow - there will be lots of creative options for students to adapt and play with. You will leave each class feeling energised and grounded with a sense of new found openness in the body.
